Over Christmas and New Year, recycling, food waste and general waste collection days will change. From Tuesday 8th January 2013 collections return to their usual days.
Garden waste Garden waste collections will not take place in the weeks beginning 24 and 31 December 2012. Check your garden waste calendar for scheduled collections. Recycling Christmas trees Anyone with a real Christmas tree can recycle it in the following ways once the festive season is over: •Take it to the Community Recycling Centres in Bond Road, Warlingham, or Chaldon Road, Caterham and put it in the garden waste container. •Cut it up and compost it in your home compost bin. •If you are a member of the garden waste service, cut up your tree (maximum tree trunk 4" diameter) and put it in your bin for collection. Make sure you can still close the lid. Check your garden waste collection calendar for scheduled collections. Councillor Tony Elias, Chairman of the Community Services Committee, which is responsible for the recycling and waste service said: "Over Christmas we all create so much extra waste. Our new recycling service allows you to recycle much more from home - please try to recycle as much as possible."
