The latest batch of Caterham-on-the-Hill Parish Council grit bins have now been put in place and filled with grit. Llicences have been obtained from Surrey County Council to use over a dozen extra sites across the parish.

Councillor Chris Botten said: "Local residents have welcomed the Parish Council's initiative in providing these additional grit bins, and the new green colour is popular too. We will ensure that they are refilled as needed through the winter.

"Our thanks go to our Parish Clerk, Helen Broughton, and to local farmer Roger Colebrook for their work in getting these bins into place so promptly once we received our permits from SCC."

County and Parish Councillor John Orrick added: "I am delighted that we have been able to resolve the earlier problems with Surrey CC in getting permission to locate the Parish Council grit bins on highways land."
