Caterham-on-the-Hill Parish Council has been working alongside Surrey County Council and Tandridge District Council to grit the roads and pavements this year. Councillor Sarah Burningham said: "It has been a real team effort. Feedback from residents is that generally the hard work has paid off. "We have contracted a local farmer to grit many side roads and fill the twenty one grit bins put in place by the Parish Council at the request of residents. Many residents have done a fantastic job of clearing the roads using the grit provided. Please remember that this grit is for use on highways and not private land." Volunteers organised by the Parish Council and Tandridge District Council have been out with a push along gritter, provided by Surrey County Council, clearing the pavements and icy junctions. Sarah added: "On Wednesday I was delighted to see a crew of at least eight plus Tandridge District Council vehicles carrying salt, with workers clearing and then gritting pavements. On the same journey I saw a Surrey County Council lorry gritting the road and pavements in Macaulay Road. The main roads of course have been kept clear by Surrey County Council." The Parish Council always appreciates feedback and suggestions from residents. Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. |
