Tandridge Trust, Leisure & Culture is bringing an exciting new opportunity to the residents of Caterham. Inspired by the success of the Bletchingley Community Choir, Lisa Phillips, Culture Activities Manager at Tandridge Trust, has secured funding to set up a new Community Choir in Caterham. Using legacy money from Arts Partnership's 'Singing Surrey' project, which saw the creation of Bletchingley Community Choir in 2011, Tandridge Trust approached Tandridge Community Partnership for some match funding to allow the first term of the proposed new choir to go ahead. Following support from Caterham Hill County Councillor, John Orrick, and Tandridge Community Partnership's agreement, the choir can now begin to hit the high notes. The popularity of Community Choirs has soared over recent years. As well as a great way to make new friends and connect with people in your area, being a part of a choir can improve one's health and wellbeing. The new Caterham Community Choir will be based at de Stafford School, in Burntwood Lane Caterham, and the school has generously agreed to donate the space whilst the choir gets established. The first meeting will be Tuesday 23rd April but further details and information about free taster sessions will be available soon.
