On Monday 4th February the Caterham Festival AGM launched the countdown to the exciting programme of events lined up for this summer starting on 25th May until the end of June. The AGM took place at the Douglas Brunton Centre in Caterham-on-the-Hill and was attended by Festival volunteers and supporters including the Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Sakina Bradbury. During the course of the AGM Andy Parr was re-elected as Festival Chairman. During her address, Cllr. Sakina Bradbury thanked Andy and the rest of the volunteers for all their hard work in making the Caterham Festival such a success. Last year, 120 events were held during the Festival, and 70 of them were free, attracting around 25,000 people. Andy said: "Tandridge District Council were fantastic, especially with their help in putting on the performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Queen's Park. They even helped me to do an archaeological dig in the park with no restrictions!" Andy also thanked Mark Jones for organising the deFest Music Festival and all the other members of the Festival Committee. Some of the new attractions this year will be 'poetry plinths' being placed around Caterham and beautiful hand-made crowns appearing in shop windows to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Queen's Coronation. During the meeting Cllr. Sally Marks pleaded for more volunteers to come forward to enable all the events to take place. She said: If the Caterham community want us to carry on doing this we need people to come forward. This is the fifth festival and in order for it to be sustainable we need more help."
