Scouts go on parade for St. George’s Day
Published: Friday, 26 April 2013 06:20

On Sunday 21st April, 414 Scouts and Leaders from 12 Scout Groups in Caterham paraded through Caterham Valley from Beechwood Road to the United Reformed Church in Harestone Valley Road for the annual St. George's Day Parade. As they passed the Soper Hall, Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Cllr. Sakina Bradbury, took the salute. The parade was led by members of the Warlingham B.P. Scout Guild band.

During the service, the Reverend Stephanie Nadarajah from St Mary's Church gave a very entertaining address about St. George. Music was provided by the Free Spirit Music Group from local Caterham Churches and a collection raised £320 for the Surrey Air Ambulance. David Dobson was presented with the Medal of Merit for Scouting in recognition of his determination in starting a new Scout Group that has now been running almost ten years and where numbers are rising. In honour of George's Day on Tuesday 23rd April local Cubs, Scouts and Beavers wore their uniform to school.
