A year and a half ago, 29 year-old local bus driver, Zaine Johnston, weighed 20 stone. He has since improved his fitness and changed his diet to lose four stone. Zaine's new interest in sport has prompted him to participate in the challenging fundraising event, 'Tough Mudder,' on Saturday 8th June in Hampshire to raise funds for the charity 'Make a Wish Foundation UK'. Tough Mudder is a 12 mile long course with 25 military style obstacles designed by the Special Forces. Obstacles range from running through four foot flames to a 15 foot high jump into freezing water. The course is designed to be a challenge and not a race. Some of the Tough Mudder pledges are to 'overcome all fears,' and to 'put teamwork and camaraderie before my course time'. Zaine was raised in the Caterham area and has recently settled down in Woldingham with his wife and daughter. He used to attend de Stafford School in Burntwood Lane, Caterham and is now training for the course at de Stafford Sports centre. Zaine said: "I was the boy at school who wouldn't take part in sports. I have totally changed my life!"
