Donation helps fund the running of minibus for the elderly
Published: Friday, 26 April 2013 06:45

The Chairman of the Tandridge Community Fund, Mike Moss MBE, was delighted to make the latest donation from the Fund recently when he presented a cheque for £400 to Mrs Ann Koelz, the Chairman of the Oxted, Limpsfield & District branch of Age UK.

On receiving the cheque, Ann said: "Thank you very much for this donation which will go towards the running of our minibus taking the elderly shopping and to socialise at the lunch clubs. As we rely on donations to run the minibus this is most welcome."

Mike said that he was delighted that the Fund was able to help Age UK which, in its turn, was helping elderly people within the area. Mike explained that it was a fund 'in perpetuity' so the capital would never be touched – it was the interest earned that went to char- itable groups within the district of Tandridge. Donations to the Fund were helping to build it, thus earning more interest and helping more groups.

When asked if the Fund was run by Tandridge District Council Mike said: "No. It is entirely independent, though the Fund was grateful when Councillor Brian Perkins raised some capital for it when he was Chairman of the council."

Anyone wishing to donate to the Fund should contact Mike on 01883 713322.
