Entrants wanted for Carnival Procession
Published: Friday, 10 May 2013 10:13

The Caterham Carnival will soon be upon us and the organisers are calling for all involved to show how wonderfully rich in culture and talent our community is. The Carnival procession needs floats and walkers to help create a great display. The event is the perfect opportunity for local businesses and voluntary organisations to promote themselves or for a group of people to simply dress up and have fun. Participants can enter a float or simply join the walking procession. Over the years the carnival has seen large giants, cadets, drummers, fire engines, samba bands, elephants, May Queens, salsa dancers and of course Caterham 7's.

The Carnival route has changed this year which will allow more floats to be entered. Due to police concerns about hauling the procession up the hill it will now start at the Dene Hospital and continue around Caterham-on-the-Hill ending, as usual, at Westway Common. The best float and best walking group of the procession will then be announced in the main arena.

Beth Wood, Artistic Director at The Arc, has taken on the role of organising those wishing to take part in the carnival procession. Beth can be contacted on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
