On Saturday 11th May, The Hawthorns School, Bletchingley, hosted a very lively Country Fayre and Dog Show. As well as a large variety of traditional country stalls, there was plenty for the whole family to do, ranging from getting soaking wet in the stocks, bouncy castles and a fascinating birds of prey demonstration. The staff and governors enjoyed themselves on a human fruit machine, which entertained the crowds throughout the day. The kitchen team kept everyone fed and watered, and delicious eam teas were provided by FROTH, the Parents' Association, not to mention the mobile pizzeria! The children had been encouraged to enter a craft competition and the marquee was filled with flower arrangements, home-made cakes, photographs and decorated clothes pegs! There were a large number of beautifully groomed dogs entered into the Pedigree and Novelty classes in the dog show. The day was a huge success, enjoyed by parents, children and staff, as well as many proud dogs with their rosettes. All proceeds from the day will go to Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, The Rainbow Trust and the school's own conservation projects. |
