The King and Queen pub in Caterham-on-the-Hill hosted a Fun Day last Saturday, 15th June to raise funds to help sick children at East Surrey Hospital. Organisers, Joanne Hyder and Lucie Ward both have young children with complex medical needs who have regular, extended stays on the ward. Joanne said: "We wanted to show our appreciation to the ward by helping to raise money for the 'Big Top Fund' so that their qualified play specialists can invest in some new toys and distraction therapy equipment which we know makes such a difference when a child has to spend time on Outwood Ward." The activities on the day included face painting, a bouncy castle, live music, cake stall, raffle and a South African barbecue. There was even a stocks for some good old-fashioned messy fun! By the end of the day the event had raised £600 for the Big Top Fund. Joanne said: "Lucie and I are very pleased with the amount raised, especially as the weather was not great on the day. We would like to thank everyone who supported the event and the local businesses who kindly donated to our raffle." |
