Open day promotes independent living
Published: Saturday, 12 December 2009 04:59

Visitors and residents enjoying refreshments during the Open Day.

Independent Housing Opportunities (Tandridge) recently held its first Open Day at Diana Francis House in The Village, Caterham-on-the-Hill. Council and local government representatives, previous tenants, trustees, the town crier, volunteers and local care organisations attended the event that promoted Independent Living for young adults with a physical and/or mild learning disability.

Visitors were invited to view the property and the facilities available. Previous and current tenants were on hand to advise the guests of the support given to enable residents to move on to their own independent accommodation. Housing Support Workers, Maryam and Sue are employed during office hours, Monday to Friday to support residents with housekeeping, cooking, shopping budgeting, managing direct payments and generally living and sharing with other people.

For further information or to arrange an informal viewing please contact Maryam or Sue on 01883 337218. Or write to IHOT, Diana Francis House, Alexander Crescent, Caterham, CR3 5ZG.
