On Thursday 1st April a new roadsign appeared on Church Hill, Caterham, announcing the twinning of Caterham-in-the-Valley with Caterham-on-the-Hill.  Local resident, Dan Parry, said:  "I think it is great news that the Hill and Valley have forged this special partnership which will, I hope, bring the two communities together by sharing their cultures and traditions and sometimes even meeting up for social events!"    

When asked to comment, local councillors said they were unaware of the new special status between the Hill and the Valley, and by midday the sign had disappeared from Church Hill.
