Oasis Academy Coulsdon's cheerleading group, Oasis Atomic, competed in the national Future Cheers competition at Crystal Palace for the first time last week and were awarded 1st place in the Level 1 Junior Stunt Division! The team with their Coach, PE Teacher Vikki Chapman, devised a thrilling routine of stunts and skills on which they were judged. The competition was in two rounds. After their first performance the girls received some feedback from the judges and then trained in the sun to perfect their routine ready for Round 2. Jess Hann (Flyer), Bethany Street (Base), Natasha Stear (Base), Katie Dunham (Front Spot) and Becky-Ann Bridger (Back Spot) produced a flawless performance which was well received by all of the spectators as well as other competitors and coaches. When the result was announced the girls couldn't contain their excitement and screamed with delight. 14 year-old Jess Hann said: "The competition was really tough and there were some great routines. We were so surprised when the judges announced we had won." PE teacher, Vikki said: "I am so proud of the girls, they have put in hours of training and performed a brilliant routine." |
