A concert is being held at Godstone Village Hall on Friday 20th September to raise funds for a cyclist who was seriously injured in a freak accident. The concert is being organised by local homeopath, Lesley Wilkinson, in aid of her friend Will Clark (27) who lives in Grasmere in the Lake District. Last June Lesley, her son Daniel, and two other cyclists were with Will cycling round Grasmere when a small stick came up through the spokes of the front wheel of his bike, causing the wheel to instantly jam and Will to be thrown over the handlebars. This resulted in a permanent spinal injury of the neck, which means that Will depends now on a Powerchair which he has to operate with his chin as he has no movement below his shoulders. Although Will is now home from the Middlesbrough spinal unit he needs special equipment to help rehabilitate him (an exercise bike costs £10,000). The fundraising concert will feature Dave Glover, ex Slade bass guitarist for what promises to be a super evening's entertainment. Tickets cost £15 each (or £120 for a table of eight) to include a Ploughman's Supper. All the profits will go to Will's fund.
