Warlingham GCSE students maintained the high standards set by previous cohorts in the 2013 results, despite concerns raised in the media that national results have fallen. With some marks still to come in, 68% of students have achieved 5 or more grades A*-C including English and maths and, most impressively, the progress these students have made since they joined the school 5 years ago (based on their Key Stage 2 results), beats all previous records for the school. Miss Woodhouse, Headteacher, was delighted that the hard work of students and teachers has paid dividends enabling students to access courses of their choice in Warlingham Sixth Form or local colleges. She said, "It has been great to see so many elated students this morning. These are the sorts of occasions I shall miss as I retire next week – the job has all been about students doing the very best they can and having the skills and qualifications that give them choices and bring success in the future." These GCSE results follow record achievement for the school at A level last week. Unusually this year, the school's top performers have all been boys: Lewis Nash, Charles Duncan-King, Matthew Ives and Joel Fernandez all achieved 12 or more grade A*/As. Chloe Caldecourt was not far behind with 11 top grades. |
