Two local businessmen have had a moment of madness when they decided they will have their hair cut to raise vital funds for their local Marie Curie nursing service. Normally people have their head shaved but the co–owners of La Fiaba del Mediterraneo in Caterham-on-the-Hill have decided to go wacky and have their hair styled into a Mohican haircut. Paul Falkner (and Kostadin Ilev, co-owners of the business, want local residents to sponsor them. They hope to raise £1,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. So far they have had £100 donated by one of their patrons. The pair has set up a Just Giving page, so if you want to make a donation go to la-fiaba-del-mediterraneo or www.lafiaba.co.uk Paul Falkner said: "I am very aware of the wonderful work that the Marie Curie nursing service provides. I lost my uncle to cancer when he was only 40 years old and he did not receive any palliative care treatment. The only nursing he received was when he was in hospital and I felt he could have had better care. Kostadin and I felt that we wanted the money to go towards funding locally the amazing work that the Marie Curie nurses provide." The event will take place on Tuesday 1st October at 6pm at the restaurant. Customers are invited to come along when nibbles and pizzas will be provided. Marie Curie Nurses offer specialist care and support to people with cancer and other terminal illnesses in the place they most want to be – their home. Marie Curie nurses help people enjoy the best possible quality of life throughout their illnesses. The service is free of charge to patients. |
