Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for information following a burglary at a property in Caterham on Wednesday 4th September. The incident occurred around 12.45pm when the offenders gained entry via a patio door at the property on Banstead Road but were disturbed by the occupants when they returned home. The two offenders quickly left the house and escaped over neighbouring gardens. Investigating officer Detective Constable Simon Evans, said: "It must have been extremely frightening for the occupants to return home to find the two intruders in their property but they were able to provide us with a detailed description of those responsible and I hope this will help us identify the offenders. "We are still in the process of establishing exactly what property was stolen during the break-in at the property but it is believed a quantity of jewellery is missing. "I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident to contact officers as their information may be vital to the investigation." The first offender is described as a white man, of slim build, aged in his early 20s, with short light brown hair and slight stubble on his face and wearing a red top. The second offender was wearing a full face balaclava. It is believed that the offenders spoke with a northern accent, possibly of Yorkshire origin. Officers would also like to trace three white men and a black man seen in the area by a member of the public around the time of the burglary as they too may hold vital information. If you can assist officers with their investigation please contact them on 101 quoting reference TD/13/4211 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
