Detectives from East Surrey CID are investigating following an overnight burglary at a store in Warlingham. The incident occurred just before 2am on Wednesday, 25 September at the Co-operative store on The Green. The investigation is still in the early stages but it is believed the offenders left the scene empty handed after being disturbed by local residents. Investigating Officer Detective Constable Kerry Akehurst, said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious either around the time of the offence or in the days leading up to it to contact officers with information. "Officers are working closely with the store on how they can improve their security and prevent future incidents like this. Officers are currently at the scene carrying out enquiries in the local area following the burglary and are also working to establish whether this incident is linked to another similar incident which occurred in Tadworth overnight. It is believed three men were involved in the break-in, all of which were of medium build and wearing dark clothing. One of the men was wearing a white mask to cover his face and officers would ask anyone who has seen a discarded item matching this description which may connect to not touch or move it and contact them with information immediately. Anyone who as information on this incident is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/13/4610 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
