Surrey Police have launched their Halloween safety campaign, assisted by some scary ghouls and ghosts at Ridge Radio! PC Wayne Stephens and PCSO Nick Stone from Caterham Police Station visited the radio station on Thursday, 17th October to raise awareness of the campaign. They brought with them some 'No trick or treat' cards that local residents can display on Halloween evening if they do not wish to be disturbed. In her message on the back of the card, Tandridge Neighbourhood Inspector says: "We will again be out and about on patrol working hard to ensure everyone in Tandridge Borough has a safe and enjoyable Halloween and Bonfire Night. I would like to reassure you that the majority of trick or treaters are well behaved and trouble is rare but if there is a problem or incident outside your house call Surrey Police on 101 or in an emergency always dial 999." To help keep youngsters safe on Halloween Ridge Radio are opening a Halloween-themed shop in the empty unit next door to the Radio Station at 79 Croydon Road, Caterham Valley. The theme will be a restaurant called 'Hannibals', with lots of spooky activities for youngsters to enjoy including apple bobbing and a fancy dress competition. Mark Jones from Ridge Radio said: "We want to offer a safe place for youngsters to come and enjoy Halloween activities here in Caterham Valley. It is once again another Ridge Radio and community project for the benefit of the local community." On Thursday 31st October the Ridge Radio shop 'Hannibals' will be open for children's activities from 3pm-6pm with a fancy dress competition at 5.30 and from 6.30pm-9pm for brave 11 year-olds and over. Copies of the 'No trick or treat' cards are available from Caterham Police Station and the Tandridge District Council offices in Oxted. |
