Last month a group of Caterham Rotary Club members were joined by a party from The Orpheus Centre in Godstone for a day's sailing on the Jubilee Sailing Trust's ship 'Tenacious'. Despite a few spots of rain during the journey down to Southampton the weather cleared up and the sun shone in the afternoon. The Rotary 'sailors' were greeted on arrival with tea, coffee and bacon rolls, and after an introduction from the Captain and safety briefing from the First Mate, the Tenacious was soon under way. After enjoying some freshly-made buns from the ship's galley while motoring down Southampton Water, it was time to pull on some ropes and set some sails. After lunch there was a pleasant breeze to sail from the forts off Portsmouth, back up the Solent and Southampton Water to the ship's berth. There were smiles all round as the ship's crew set off home after a rewarding and enjoyable day. After the trip, Emma Taylor, Activities Co-ordinator at The Orpheus Centre said: "We were delighted that a number of our students were able to take part in this special day and they loved every minute."
