An exciting afternoon was had on Saturday 28th September at Caterham Valley Library, when Cllr. Elizabeth Parker, the Vice Chairman of Tandridge District Council, came to the library in Stafford Road, Caterham, to present local children with their well-earned medals and certificates after they had completed the Summer Reading Challenge.

The challenge was to read six books over the course of the school summer holidays, and more than 240 children who registered at the Caterham Libraries successfully finished the challenge.

Certificates and thanks were also given to the Summer Reading Challenge volunteers present, who helped run the scheme throughout the summer and worked hard to make the awards event a success. The theme of this year's challenge was 'Creepy House', and many of the children came dressed in creepy costumes.

After receiving their medals and certificates, the children had the opportunity to do some 'creepy crafts', and finished by enjoying afternoon tea, generously donated by Waitrose and Morrisons.
