The League of Friends of Caterham Dene Hospital ('LOF') provides an essential service for the local community and in their recent newsletter they said a big thank you to their supporters for all their hard work raising much-needed funds. The Caterham Dene Hospital is always in need of new equipment and the LOF liaises closely with First Community Health over how to spend the money which has been raised over the years. In addition to making donations, the members and supporters hold coffee mornings, golf days and other events to raise money. So far this year the LOF has refurbished the summer house at the Dene to improve patients' experience during their stay. Also during the past year, the LOF has spent £28,000 on amenities for the patients including diabetes monitors, bedside tables and chairs, a vital signs monitor, an emergency trolley and an exercise bicycle. Whereas many local cottage hospitals have closed, the Caterham Dene still exists to provide a range of medical services for local residents who have been referred there by their GP. Roger Wright of the LOF said: "The LOF relies on its supporters and invites everybody to join us for lunch at the Autumn Fayre on Saturday 9th November. If you fancy a fun evening, why not come along to our Quiz Night on 30th November, where you will receive a very warm welcome!"
