On Sunday 17th November around 200 Santa's helpers ran to raise money for St Catherine's Hospice to help local people with a terminal illness. The St Catherine's Hospice Caterham Santa Run took place in Queen's Park, Caterham and was sponsored by the Gatwick Group. Seasoned runners and families with babies in tow all donned free Santa costumes to run the two and a half kilometre route. Over the 12 days of Christmas, it will cost St Catherine's around £130,000 to care for patients and families in Sussex and Surrey. Jen Wickham, Events Fundraiser at St Catherine's said: "We are very grateful to the Santa Runners who joined us at Queen's Park this year and to former world champion kickboxer Jody Blunt for conducting the warm up. I'd also like to thank Councillor Beverley Connolly (Chairman of Tandridge District Council) and Councillor Sally Marks (Surrey County Councillor) for starting the run. Thank you to the volunteers who gave up their time to help, including members of Caterham Rotary who acted as marshals, and Gatwick Group, who kindly sponsored this year's run. The Santa Run is a great, fun event and a fantastic way to get some exercise with family, friends, or even pets but it's also a vital source of income. St Catherine's must raise £15,000 every day to continue to provide care and comfort for terminally ill people, so taking part in these events really does make a difference."
