Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a post office in Bletchingley on Tuesday, 31st December. The incident occurred at around 6.15am at the post office on the High Street and officers were quickly deployed to the scene. A man entered the store and threatened two members of staff, a man and a woman in their 50s, with what is believed to be a firearm before restraining their hands and feet. The investigation is still in the early stages but it is believed a sum of money from the till, scratch cards and cigarettes were stolen during the incident. Following the initial investigation detectives are releasing an image of a man they would like to speak with in connection with the armed robbery. Senior Investigating officer Detective Inspector Antony Archibald, said: "The man in this image is wanted in connection with this offence and I would urge members of the public not to approach or challenge him but to contact officers immediately if you can identify him or know his whereabouts.” Response officers carried out a thorough search of the area following the robbery and continue to make a number of enquiries. Local officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team are also assisting as part of the investigation and urge anyone with information to either contact Surrey Police by phone or by approaching an officer on patrol. Members of the public are reminded not to put themselves in any danger and are thanked for their patience while officers carry out their investigation.
