An exciting programme of Creative Seated Dance will take place across Surrey during Spring 2014. Tandridge Trust will be co-ordinating the Arts Partnership Surrey’s programme of activity in Tandridge, which will take place at the Douglas Brunton Centre, in Caterham. The programme has been designed to support staff and volunteers to learn to deliver Creative Seated Dance to clients, in a range of settings, which could include day centres and care homes in the district. The programme is open to those who already deliver exercise-based classes and also to those who have never previously taught this type of class. It aims to support staff and volunteers in developing their current practice to include Creative Seated Dance or to support them in learning to deliver this these classes and develop their own creative ideas. The programme will start with four training days, which will be hosted in the Wellbeing Centre, at the Douglas Brunton Centre, Caterham, weekly, starting Friday 28th Feb 2014. Following on from this will be five half-day weekly mentoring sessions at either the Douglas Brunton Centre or the Lingfield Day Centre, which will set up and establish a class.
The mentoring will take place with Jill Hayes, a qualified experienced Dance Movement Therapist, who has published journal articles and conference papers on her research into the benefits of this type of work with older adults.
