Appeal for information following altercation in Caterham |

Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for information following an altercation between two groups of people in Caterham. The incident occurred between 12.15am and 12.30am on Sunday, 19th January outside the Pilgrim Public House on Godstone Road. A 17-year-old boy received a cut to the head after being hit with a wine bottle and was treated at the scene by ambulance crews. An 18-year-old man was also hit with a wine bottle and was taken to hospital for treatment to serious head and eye injuries. It was later discovered that he would require further treatmentfor a fractured jaw andbleeding to the brain. Investigating officer Detective Constable AudreyCumiskey, said: "First of all I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the altercation between the two groups or the events surrounding it to contact officers with information. "I also believe those involved in the incident will have spoken to others since it took place, and I would ask anyone who has been a confidant to an offender to contact officers. "Sometimes, for whatever reason, people prefer to give information anonymously, if you can help with our investigation, but do not want to provide your details, please contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.” The groups involved were predominately males aged in their mid to late teens and early 20s.
