Last October, two local businessmen had a moment of madness when they had their hair cut to raise vital funds for their local Marie Curie nursing service. Paul Falkner and Kostadin Ilev, co-owners of La Fiaba del Mediterraneo on Caterham-on-the-Hill, had their heads shaved into wacky Mohican haircuts. The duo sported the haircuts throughout October and caused quite a stir with their customers and local residents. With the help of their kind hearted patrons the pair exceeded their goal of raising £1,000 for the charity. In fact they raised an outstanding £1,001. Paul Falkner, co-owner said “Kosta and I are delighted with the amount raised which will help fund the 13 Marie Curie nurses who work throughout Surrey. We had great fun sporting our new haircuts and we are already trying to think of another event to raise funds for Marie Curie this year.” Marie Curie Nurses offer specialist care and support to people with cancer and other terminal illnesses in the place they most want to be – their home. Our nurses help people enjoy the best possible quality of life throughout their illnesses. The service is free of charge to our patients. |
