The temporary dam the army have built by the Woldingham Viaduct to help control the flow of the Bourne River. To help alleviate the flooding along the A22 in Tandridge and Croydon, engineers and experts from the Environment Agency and the three councils covering the affected area have drawn up plans to manage the flow of floodwater from the Caterham Bourne, which has already flooded roads and properties from Wapses Lodge in Caterham Valley down to Kenley. As part of the works, Woldingham Road has been closed as a consequence of the creation of two 'flood lagoons' by the army in two fields adjacent to Woldingham Road. The lagoons will release water pressure at the Kenley water treatment centre and support the overall operation which aims to protect the facility. The road closure is to provide army personnel with storage space for plant equipment and enable emergency services to access the site safely. A full diversion is signposted via Hillbury Road in Whyteleafe, Limpsfield Road in Warlingham and Slines Oak Road and Halliloo Valley Road in Woldingham.
