Head teacher Mike Donald congratulates Harley Norman.
On Monday 24th February, Warlingham Park School hosted its 18th annual inter-school cross-country competition. This ever-popular annual running event brings together the hottest and most promising talent from fifteen state and independent sector primary schools in Croydon and Tandridge including Oakhyrst Grange, Royal Russell, Gresham Primary, Essendene Lodge and Laleham Lee. The conditions were perfect for cross-country. The recent wet weather meant that a new course had to be devised in the school’s open countryside to avoid the treacherous conditions of the woods. The route was popular with spectators as they were able to see the progress of their school and individuals in the clear conditions. The afternoon kicked off with the girls’ individual and team race at 2.15pm. Isabella Sims from Cumnor House once again put in a convincing performance to take the girls’ individual title for the second year running. Head teacher Mike Donald awards first prize to Isabella Sims. The boys’ race at 2.30pm was equally exciting as they set quite a pace at the start of the race. Harley Norman from Oakhyrst Grange put in another winning performance again for the second year in the row. The best performing girls’ team this year went to Royal Russell and for the boys Oakhyrst Grange took victory. Warlingham Park School would like to extend its thanks to all schools that took part in this year’s race and looks forward to welcoming them back again next year. Mike Donald, Head Teacher of Warlingham Park School said: “Our school’s extensive sports fields and countryside location make it an ideal venue for this competition and I’m thrilled to be able to host an event that is yet again proving to be so popular.”
