The Hamsey Green Lidl planning application for the site of the old Good Companions pub in Limpsfield Road is going to appeal and the deadline for voicing support for the original refusal decision is Friday 14th March. The majority of residents do not want a supermarket on the site as there are food stores nearby but those grounds for refusal of the application are not admissible. There are also very serious concerns about road safety issues associated with the proposed new store and the objectors are seeking refusal on planning grounds i.e. road safety and the suitability of the design. The leader of Surrey County Council, David Hodge, has written to the Planning Inspectorate to confirm his support for the committee's original decision, as well as local MPs Richard Ottaway and Sam Gyimah and GLA member Steve O'Connell. Correspondence should be sent to: Alison Kendall at the Planning Inspectorate, 3/05a Kite Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6PN quoting appeal reference APP/L5240/A/14/2212949, Croydon Planning reference 13/00957/P and the site address The Good Companions, Limpsfield Road, CR2 9AW. |
