The re-opened Godstone Road in Whyteleafe. Diversions signs are still in place for motorists wanting to drive along the A22 to Purley. Businesses in Whyteleafe are delighted and relieved that the A22 Godstone Road has re-opened after having been closed due to the flooding for the last five weeks. Thames Water have been conducting a clean-up operation and contractors employed by Surrey County Council are closely monitoring the flow of water from the Bourne River towards Kenley. The water is being slowly released from the temporary holding lagoons in Woldingham that were constructed to help relieve the flooding. Access is now possible to the businesses in Whyteleafe that have been affected by the floods although it is not possible to drive all the way to Purley as the road is still closed from the water treatment works in Kenley. It is not anticipated that it will be possible to re-open Woldingham Road until April.
Residents and business affected by flooding are invited to come to a drop in session in the function room at the Whyteleafe Tavern on any of the following dates: § Wednesday 2 April 11am-1pm § Tuesday 15 April 6pm-8pm Representatives from Tandridge District Council, Surrey County Council, the National Flood Forum and other organisations will be available. In addition Woldingham Parish Council and Surrey County Council have organised a public meeting to update Woldingham residents and businesses on measures taken to alleviate the impact of flooding on Woldingham and the surrounding area. The meeting is at Woldingham Village Hall, Station Road, Woldingham on Saturday 15 March at 10.30am. A representative from Tandridge District Council will also be attending.
