Guests Steve and Marion Harris make the most of the Disney photo booth. On 15th February 2014, the Caterham Ball Committee hosted a Disney Through The Ages themed evening at the Reigate Manor hotel to raise money for a local charity. The black tie dinner event raised an epic amount of £1,270, all of which will go directly to Action For Carers Surrey. The Ball Committee from Caterham, Surrey spent many months organising the annual event which last year saw an amount of £1,000 raised for Great Ormond Street Hospital. The event was held at Reigate Manor Hotel, a venue which has supported the Committee in hosting events for a number of years. This years’ Disney theme was apparent throughout the night with famous Disney theme tunes being played to guests as they sat down for a sumptuous 5 course dinner. Following dinner, a Disney dress up booth was available for guests to dress up and pose as their favourite characters in front of the famous princess castle. A caricaturist was also on hand to put guests into their own cartoon picture as a souvenir of their evening. Guests get serious over Disney trivia! All funds for the charity were raised through a raffle which took place while guests were seated for dinner. Prizes were donated by local businesses such as Northdowns Interiors, La Barbe Restaurant and Louise Millar Salon which added to the true local community spirit of the evening. The Committee selected a local charity as the beneficiary this year as they felt it would be a great way to demonstrate and celebrate the strength of community. Committee member, Carly Hansen, said: ‘This year’s theme has all been about reminiscing to your childhood and remembering what’s important to you. By choosing a local charity, we have been able to mirror the theme and demonstrate the importance of community giving. The result has been that guests had a fabulous evening, gave generously and helped us raise our highest fundraising amount yet!’ If you would like to find out more about next years’ themed charity evening event, please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
