Last year's carnival procession in Chaldon Road. Once again the Arc is organising this year’s Carnival Procession as part of the Caterham Carnival on Saturday June 14th and need masses of people to walk with with the team from the Arc. It is not a long walk so it is suitable for children of all ages and this year it is starting from the Arc to make it easier to get into costume, have pre-procession toilet facilities (and free tea, coffee, squash and biscuits) and easier to assemble the big pieces and floats in the car park. Last year (the first year the Arc organised it) everyone said it was the best for a very long time. The Arc has staff and volunteers working on costumes, props and large pieces and again it will follow the themes of stories, poems and nursery rhymes. Please do take part if you can. It is amazingly good fun and ends in the Carnival arena where, after the judging, there are masses of stalls, arena acts, and a funfair. Over 10,000 people get along to the event each year and if you haven’t been before, it is a big event! Walkers will need to assemble at the Arc at 10am to get into costume and through who does what and goes where etc. The Arc need to know walkers in advance in order to organise this so please email This email address is being protected from spambots. If you have children coming please let Beth know their age.) The procession will leave the Arc at 12 noon and arrive at the arena at 1pm for the parade and prizes.
