Detectives investigating the murder of a woman at a property in Nutfield have today named the victim as 38-year-old Sarah Thomas following formal identification.
The body of Miss Thomas was found after police and the ambulance service attended the address in High Street following a 999 call shortly after 6pm on Monday 10 May.
A post mortem examination found she had suffered a number of injuries including a stab wound to the neck. Miss Thomas was an unemployed mother of three who lived alone at the property in High Street.
Two men, aged 40 and 41, who were arrested on suspicion of murder and later released have since had their bail cancelled.
Following extensive searches of the local area around Nutfield, a kitchen knife has been recovered by officers from Surrey Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Hayes, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are currently following significant lines of enquiry and I would like to assure the local community that we are making every effort to catch who was responsible for this crime.”
