Last Tuesday, 1st June, volunteer staff at the Marie Curie shop in Church Walk, Caterham, were honoured for their long service, having notched up an amazing 151 years between them! The ladies were presented with certificates and daffodil brooches before enjoying some celebratory tea and cakes at the rear of the shop.
Pauline Percival, Shop Manager said: "They all work as a great team together and are very committed to working in the shop. We are very proud of all the ladies who volunteer. With so many different volunteers coming in it all adds to the fun of running the shop. Without their service we couldn't raise funds for a very worthwhile cause. The money raised helps Marie Curie Cancer Care provide nursing care and support to terminally ill people. Every 」20 provides an hour of Marie Curie nursing care, and the service is totally free to patients and their families."
Denise Barrett (Area Manager for Surrey,Sussex and London) said: "We wanted to say a special 'thank you' to our helpers. We are very proud of all the ladies who volunteer and the shop in Caterham provides an essential service for the local community. These volunteers give their time to help such a worthy cause and without them the shops would not be able to operate. Well done to everyone."
