Reperesentatives of Surrey County Council and Tandridge District Council were amongst the guests at the official opening of 'Street' youth centre in Godstone Road, Caterham on Wednesday, 9th June. Other members of the community were also present to celebrate the cente's opening, including local businessman, David Gold, the new co-owner of West Ham United football club. Visitors were given a tour of the building by members of the centre before the ribbon was cut by the Chairman of Surrey County Council, Geoff Marlow. The Surrey Youth Service and Youth Development Budget funded the opening of the centre with donations also made by other local organisations including the Caterham Rotary Clubs.
Amongst the facilities available for members are computers, a music room, kitchen, pool table, television and 'chill-out' area. The centre is open for youngsters aged between 13 and 19 for after-school and evening sessions and a full list of opening times is available at the centre.
