Caterham, Oxted and Godstone Lions Club (COG's) were absolutely thrilled when Classical Guitarist, Laura Snowden, agreed to be their candidate for the Lions European Music Competition and on Sunday, 3rd January Laura won the South East final held at Kent College in Canterbury.
Laura now goes forward to the national final to be held in the Conservatoire in Birmingham on Sunday the 18th of April. Her prize for this stage of the competition was a ¡ê100 cheque. Her next engagement with the Lions is to play before South East District's Convention, this year to be held at the Hilton Hotel in Croydon, on Saturday 6th February. The wider Lions community is certainly in for a treat.
Should Laura be successful in Birmingham, the next step will be Bologna in Italy for the European final in October and possibly the international final in Seattle in 2011! All at COG's wish her the very best of luck for the next stage. Meanwhile for Laura it is back to studying at the Royal College of Music in London.
