The organisers of this year's Caterham Festival are over the moon at winning the Social and Community Category for the South East Market Town Awards 2010. The awards are organised by Action for Market Towns ('AMT').
Chairman of the Caterham Festival, Andy Parr, was notified of the award by email on Thursday 27th May. Andy said: "I was jumping all over the ceiling when I read the e-mail! I couldn't tell anybody though because I wanted to announce it at the Festival Launch event the next evening at the Soper Hall. We are all thrilled to bits, especially as it is only the second year of the Festival."
In the e-mail, Robyn Woronka, AMT, said: "The judges were particularly impressed with how you involved the community and have thought through future funding for the project." On Tuesday 6th July Andy will be attending the awards presentation in Faringdon, Oxfordshire, with the Chairman of the Caterham Community Partnership Chris Windridge who helped to inspire the concept for the Festival in 2008.
