This summer the Arc arts and recreation centre at 39 Weston Drive, Caterham is running a great range of week long drama courses, short sessions and art classes from 26th July-27th August. This bold, brave and stimulating programme includes a range of different courses and events for all ages so there is something for everyone.

The Arc re-opened in February and since then has become a hub of creative activity. It provides drama, dance and art workshops as well as children’s soft play facilities and other events such as its popular comedy nights. The Arc is a place where people of all ages can go to have fun, learn and be creative.

Highlights of the summer programme will include week long drama courses, where young actors will get the opportunity to work alongside professional actors and directors to produce and star in a production. The courses are split into age groups of 8-12 and 13-16. The group for 8-12 year olds will work on “Arabian Nights”, a colourful and vibrant production that will run from 26th-30th July. The course for 13-16 year olds is designed for those who are serious about acting, as they will be working on a challenging piece of drama called “Midnight’s Children”. This course runs from 16th-20th August.

For young children there are drama game sessions on the 3rd and 5th August. These hour-long sessions will give youngsters the chance to make friends and enjoy themselves at the cost of only £5 per session. On the 10th and 12th August the art workshop will open up to four to seven year olds, giving them the chance to take part in an imaginative and enjoyable mask making session.

The Arc will also run a performing comedy class on the 3rd August for teenagers, as well as a stage-fighting course on the 11th August. On 23rd-27th August there will be musical theatre sessions for all ages to enjoy.

If adults don’t want to miss out then there are courses in acting, stage fighting and comedy that will run across the festival programme, with prices starting from £15. Alternatively, a weekly ticket is available in order to save money.
