A special consultation day about plans for a new play area at Whyteleafe recreation ground is taking place on Thursday 22nd July between 10am and 2pm at Whyteleafe Pavilion, Hillbury Road, Whyteleafe.

Tandridge District Council is rebuilding the existing children’s play area at a cost of £100,000. The existing site was installed in 1984 and is in need of refurbishment.

On the day, designs from four companies will be on display and the public will be asked to vote for the one they prefer. All the designs merge the toddler and junior play areas and have a variety of equipment for children aged 2 to 16.

Some of the designs are more traditional, while others include natural play elements like rocks and boulders and climbing walls. The brief for the site also includes a pagoda or shade area for parents or carers and children.

Councillor Tony Elias, Chairman of the Community Services Committee, said; “We hope as many people as possible will come along on the day to have a look at the plans and help choose the best design. Whichever one is chosen, the play area will be transformed and will meet the needs of the community for years to come.”
