25 toddlers from Netherne-on-the- Hill toddled around the village to raise money for the Big Toddle for Barnardos last month. Netherne resident Sarah Edwards organised the toddle that took place on Sunday, 18th July, to bring the community and families together and raise money for a good cause at the same time. The Big Toddle for Barnardos is the UK's biggest charity event for the under fives. Sarah said: "I was able to organise and hold the event within Netherne- on-the-Hill thanks to the support and help from neighbours and friends. They all came together on the day to make it a fun and successful event that has raised £350 so far." 'Castles in the Air' provided a bouncy castle for the tots to enjoy and there was a guest appearance by 'Apollo' the parrot, courtesy of Jesters Fancy Dress Hire in nearby Merstham. The theme was 'Pirates' so all the children dressed up and all the participants won a medal. Sarah said: "Lots of fun was had by all and new friendships were made. We will hopefully have more events like this. I found it hugely rewarding when it all came together." |
