On Thursday, 8th July de Stafford School in Burntwood Lane, Caterham held an open day to showcase the new Tandridge Confederation that represents 33 local schools and is now based on the school site. The Confederation aims to provide care, support and activities for young people and their families in the area, both inside and outside of school hours. The services include counselling facilities, community workshops and adult learning.

The event aimed to reflect the spirit of 'Ubuntu', the ancient African belief that humans are made for togetherness which is shown by caring for others, offering hospitality and being compassionate. The school demonstrated this through a series of workshops, displays and school tours conducted by students.

Headteacher of de Stafford, Miss Caroline Longhurst said: "At de Stafford we believe we have the spirit of Ubuntu - we strive to be open and available to others in the community. We are delighted that the Tandridge Confederation is now located at de Stafford and look forward to welcoming young people and adults onto the site."
