Register to vote in the EU referendum by Tuesday 7th June
Published: Tuesday, 31 May 2016 09:24

With the EU referendum fast approaching, Tandridge District Council is urging residents to register to vote by the Tuesday 7th June deadline and to check the Electoral Commission’s voting guide for advice on how to take part. Voters who are already registered to vote do not need to register again.

The referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union will take place on Thursday 23rd June 2016.

The voting guide, which has been delivered to every UK household over the past week, contains important information for voters on how to register to vote, how to cast their vote and arguments from the lead campaigners for the ‘Remain’ and ‘Leave’ side.

Chief Executive and Returning Officer, Louise Round, said:

“Don’t forget that you won’t be able to have a say if you haven’t registered to vote by the 7th June deadline, so I’d encourage everyone to get online now and register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Now voters have received the voting guide from the Electoral Commission, we hope people feel confident about taking part in the referendum on 23rd June.  Anyone who hasn’t received a copy can view it online at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk."

Any voters who require any additional information are advised to go to www.aboutmyvote.co.uk or to telephone the Electoral Commission helpline on 0800 3 280 280.

To register to vote, go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
