The Valley pub in Caterham Valley has re-opened under new ownership and the management is determined to shake off the pub's previous dubious reputation. The new landlord, Rob Britain, said: "The pub is completely changed now. I have heard a lot of stories about what it used to be like here and I don't want people having a bad feeling about the place. If there is any sign of drugs or violence the trouble-makers will be sent straight out." The Valley is part of the Tandridge Pubwatch scheme which has zero tolerance towards antisocial behaviour. Rob said: "When we first walked in it looked like a bomb had hit the pub. We have only been here 23 days and we have done a lot to turn it around. We have applied for a license to allow children onto the premises because we are keen to make The Valley a family pub. Since we opened we have had people in of all ages, including an elderly couple who like to come in for a cup of tea and a sandwich! As soon as we can we are going to start up ladies and gents darts teams, football teams and other activities for our customers." The Valley is hosting a beer festival from 1st-3rd October and is also organising a 'Help for Heroes' event with live entertainment. For more information, drop in to The Valley in Croydon Road. |
