Tandridge District Councillor Pat Cannon has raised over £2,500 for St Catherine's Hospice, by completing a gruelling 'Coast to Castles' cycle ride. The 192 mile course from Edinburgh to Newcastle took him two days to complete and the generous sponsorship total has come from colleagues, friends and residents across Chaldon and Caterham. Cllr Pat says, "The marvellous work of St Catherine's touches people throughout the area and I am very grateful for all the support, donations and well wishes I have received. It was a tough challenge but I feel a real sense of achievement and to know the hospice is benefiting makes it even more worthwhile." Victoria Lawrence, Community Fundraiser, said: "We are immensely grateful for Cllr Pat Cannon's continued support. He has been so supportive of St Catherine's since we expanded into the Tandridge area last year, encouraging other Councillors and the general public to get involved with their local hospice. It is only with the generosity of our local community that we will be able to raise the £4.7m needed to provide our end of life care so donations like this make an enormous difference." St Catherine's is calling on more local men to put the miles in at their inaugural Midday Walk through Reigate and Redhill, supporting by the men from Redhill's TA.
