The Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Education was amongst the guests at a very special event at the Surrey National golf course in Chaldon recently.  On Friday 15th Ocrtober a dinner was held for Peter Ainsworth who stepped down as MP for East Surrey earlier this year after eighteen years' service to his constituents. 

Surrey County Councillor for Caterham Valley, Sally Marks, said:  “We held the dinner to thank Peter for his excellent work and contribution to East Surrey during his time as an MP.  We were very fortunate to have Michael Gove present – he spoke in very warm terms about Peter.”  

The meal was also attended by East Surrey's new MP, Sam Gyimah and some young students from Caterham School who were keen to show Michael Gove the latest edition of the political magazine that they produce.  During the evening  Peter was presented with gifts including a framed antique map of East Surrey.
