Just under 60 guests descended on the Douglas Brunton Centre on Christmas Day for the local Churches Together Christmas Dinner. The dinner was paid for through a massive donation from Waitrose and will ensure that the dinner can take place again next Christmas.Morrison’s supermarket also supplied the wine whilst Tesco and the Co-op gave vouchers towards the food. Teams of drivers, including a bus from East Surrey Dial-a-Ride, collected the guests and returned them at the end of the day.

Musicians and the choir from Free Spirit music group entertained the guests and helpers with Christmas carols. Chairman of Tandridge Council, Cllr. Beverley Connolly came along and spoke to the guests and joined in the singing and then helped to serve up the lunches. After lunch there was more entertainment from local musician Denny Bailey before Father Christmas came with presents for everyone. All the guests were given goody bags to take home with a light supper.

There are so many happy guests, helped by lots of volunteers who all give up their own family Christmas Day to assist and with Waitrose being so Extremely generous, I'm already looking forward to next year!""
