Three members of Caterham TAGB Tae Kwon Do have won medals in the 9th Tae Kwon Do World Championship 2010 which was held in Telford on 11th-12th September. The event was huge with over 17,000 competitors from 23 countries. Eight students from Caterham TAGB Tae Kwon Do took part.

Colvin Frost is now a World Champion in Blue Belt Pattern. Colvin competed against competitors from Poland, South Africa, Argentina and UK, with the highest scores in the play off.

Another member, Allan Cameron aged 43, won a bronze medal in the Blue Belt Heavyweight Sparring division. Allan, who started training just 18 months ago, fought four rounds against competitors who were much younger than him. He has also won various medals in the English and Welsh championships this year. This demonstrated that self belief is the key to any success!

The third medal winner was 15 year-old Jordan Frost who teamed up with two boys from Wales and Ireland to win a silver medal in the boys Blue Belt Tag Team. Jordan and his team fought very well. The final was a close match with the boys losing narrowly by just one point. Jordan has won various medals (individual abd team sparring) in the English, Welsh and Midland Championships.

Another member of the team 17 year-old Amelia Borley, won bronze medals earlier this year in the Red Belt Cadet Individual Sparring event at the English, Welsh and Midland Championships this year.

Caterham TAGB Tae Kwon Do instructor, Wing Lee, said: "The standard of the contestants was very high in all the divisions. The Caterham team gave an extremely good performance, mostly achieved by hard work, detemination and self belief. It is a daunting task to competing in a major event such as the World Championship. As their instructor IU am very proud of their achievements.

Caterham TAGM Tae Kwon Do hold two classes on Tuesdays from 6-30pm to 9pm at de Stafford School, Burntwood Lane, Caterham. Another two classes are held on Thursday from 6-45pm to 9pm at Queen's Park Pavilion, Queen's Park Road, Caterham.
