St Catherine's Hospice, which provides vital end of life care free of charge for patients and their loved ones across East Surrey and Mid Sussex, has opened a new shop at 31 Croydon Road, Caterham. St Catherine's has been operating the local day hospice on Foxon Lane for eighteen months and over 640 patients across East Surrey were referred to St Catherine's for care in 2009/10. Christine Cooling, senior retail manager for St Catherine's Hospice says, "Our new shop is perfect to pick up some great gifts for Christmas and also stocks our exclusive Refab jewellery range, which recycles old jewellery into must-have new items. "If you have anything to donate to us, such as quality clothing, handbags, CDs or DVDs, we'd love to receive it. And we're also looking for volunteers to help us serve customers and keep the stock flying off the shelves!" Over 70% of the hospice's funding is reliant upon the generosity of the community it serves. In 2010, St Catherine's needs to raise £4.7 million from voluntary income to ensure people can continue to receive the care and support they need.
